Nice Verdes was born in 2003 when Sally and Jess met on the streets of Vancouver at one of the many peace marches that year. Initially playing together in Vancouver's' iconic 20 piece 'Carnival Band' and 'Joko' a West African Dance Band, they began creating the music of Nice Verdes on the side.
Danceable, uplifting- blending traditional musics with original compositions they've created their own world fusion.
Nice Verdes have, and continue to travel, learning, studying, and collecting tunes and influences from around the world, especially from Africa and Latin America.
Their sound is unique and hard to categorize, all at once bluesy, latin, gypsy, jungle, folk, and constantly growing- remaining true however, to the spirit of the peace march, celebrating unity in diversity, equality, and sound 'ecology'.
